Principal High Buildings of the Old World is based on an early twentieth century postcard bearing the same name. It is an overview of just that; the principal high buildings of Europe, northern Africa and Asia. However, the tallest building on the overview is paradoxically the Washington Monument.

The work addresses the idea of architecture - or other technological and cultural advancements for that matter - used as a scale or measurement for the rank of civilizations.

The work consists of nine sheets of transparency film, printed with individual layers. This mattes the underlaying layers, producing the depth in the image.
